The Right Man for the Job

“Well life can be a bitch sometimes. It is your job to put this right so I suggest you stop fucking whining and get on with it!”
William King put the telephone down. He had been summarily told off by his boss because he admitted he was finding it hard to cope with this latest contract, so much for “My door is always open” “Any problems let me know”. The truth was that he was on his own as ever, somehow or other he had to find a way of fighting on and delivering the goods.
“Shit I am sick of this job!”
William worked for a high-powered construction company as a contract manager dealing with projects that were worth millions. This was a world where mistakes might be made but if they were your mistakes or they could be linked to you then you were history. This was a tough world that he had managed to survive in successfully for the past fifteen years, it was what they used to call a “man’s world” although these days women had made definite in-roads and were often doing better than the men.
Despite the problems with the contract and without any outside help William managed to placate the client of his 70 million contract. He was virtually tearing his hair out conniving, pleading, begging, flattering, everything he could think of to get things back on track and he did it, by the skin of his teeth.
“This is getting to be too much!”
William had said out loud as he was finally able to put his jacket on and make for home after a very long day. In fact it was the latest in a series of very long days and he wondered how much longer he could cope with this stress.
William was 49 years old and had been used to hard work for most of his life. He had started work on construction on the ground floor working his way up from labouring to management over the years more than holding his own in this very tough and macho world. By necessity he had developed the most masculine side of his character being tougher than the next guy, always being the alpha male and this really was him playing a role like an actor. Although William was no fairy there was a more gentle and passive side to him but this had been buried over the years and the role he had first played consciously had essentially become unconscious.

One day, I received a letter addressed to me from Strong. In the man’s impeccable penmanship, he invites me to a gathering in the city a few weeks hence. I asked Master for permission to attend and he gladly approved, even buying me a new suit for the occasion: an elegant black pinstripe tailored to fit my completely filled out body. We were to meet at the Atheneum, a place I had heard about as the club for professional men. It was not the place for the upper echelons but rather gentlemen such as Strong, men who were at the top of their profession in the service of others. To be accepted as a member was an accolade worth having and I was sure that I would be invited to join.

The ride to the clinic was an emotional rollercoaster. Happiness that I would be moving up to the next level and be that much closer to my Master’s service. Sadness at leaving Strong and the manor behind. Fear and anxiety about what is to be made of me, countered by the excitement of what I will become. Enjoyment of the plush limousine which is countered by the feeling that I do not belong in the back of a limousine. My mind was racing and we couldn’t get to the clinic quickly enough.

Taylor walked down the hall looking for his room number. He had been driving forever to get to Orlando for the conference this week. A meeting had gone long and he ended up missing his flight. Nothing else would have gotten him here on time so he ended up leaving last night and driving here. This conference was an opportunity he didn’t want to miss. He was the only employee of his corporation attending the conference so this gave him some great opportunities to network with his colleagues and develop some good connections. Being the youngest guy in the office this would give him an edge he could use. So he was finally here and the events began with the keynote speaker at 5:00pm, that gave him a few hours to get some rest.

“Ah, ah, ahhhhh!…. Whew, that was a good one,” James thought. As he cleaned himself off. He watched the end of his favorite jackoff tape—an episode of “The Twilight Zone” entitled “What You Need”. In it, a little old man, a salesman, is terrorized by another man but triumphs in the end. James loved the way the man looked: the typical little old man with thinning white hair, trimmed mustache, baggy eyes, and dressed in a tweed jacket with a sweater vest. “Man, that guy looks so great. I can’t wait until I’m as old as he is.”

Josh was a success. He had everything they said. Good looks, youthful physique, desirable, the kind of guy that made heads turn. Financially well off, he dressed immaculately in clothes that enhanced his body. He was everyone’s idea of the perfect boyfriend, husband, son, you name it.
30 years old and his business were going from strength to strength. He had acquired all the trappings of success; a beautiful apartment in the smartest part of town, the fast sports car, high speed motorbike, designer clothes, smart holidays. In fact he had everything anyone could wish for. All this came at a price. Long hours were spent at work, chasing clients for lucrative deals. He was rarely at home to enjoy his accumulation of luxuries and he had no one to share his life with. There were many women in and out of his life but none stayed around for very long. Business always came first and it would never be long before excuses about working late started and any chance of a relationship fizzled out.

Looking up behind him he could see the palatial structure looming on top of the hill above them, the deck looking down on the crystal blue expanse at his feet.

FRIDAY
It was evening. School had been out for hours and all the students were home for the weekend, leaving the halls of the high school empty and strangely quiet. The full moon shone through the glass front doors, shining its light on the senior lockers that lined the main hallway. The light revealed a strange, dripping trail of white paint leading along the surfaces of the lockers. The line led to a partially spray-painted caricature of a person. The caricature depicted a woman in a violet, pinstriped skirt and jacket. Instead of hair, she had a bunch of snakes sprouting from her head, and seemed to be devouring a man, blood spattered around her fang-lined mouth and at her feet.

Marcus Brab had a dilemma. He had spent a good part of the previous week wondering how in the world he would make this choice. Now it was one of the most important days of his life and he was paralyzed by this momentous decision. He would have to call in an expert’s opinion.
“Marlene!” Marcus called from the bedroom. “Should I wear the white shirt with the red shorts, or the black shirt with the black workout pants?”
Marlene poked her head in the door to see Marcus in his underwear looking at two sets of clothing laid out on the bed. “Which one would you prefer?” she asked.
